Clinical Pilates

 What is it?

Pilates is a controlled exercise performed in conjunction with deep breathing that aims to train the whole body and mind, improving posture and "body awareness" regardless of your current physical condition.

Who can it benefit?

Pilates helps with many types of aches and pains, such as lower back/spinal pain or aches in the knees. Using the reformer, a specialist piece of Pilates equipment, we will set out a program of exercises that will be tailored to your specific issues, aiming to expand your mat work and exercises, and progressively challenge your physical ability. Pilates also improves your core strength and muscle tone, flattens your stomach and improves your general flexibility.

Sessions

We are happy to offer Pilates classes that include equipment and mat work exercises.

Classes are typically kept small due to the specialised services and equipment used. It's important that Pilates exercises are completed correctly - by keeping classes small, we can ensure our trainers have the time to work personally with each of our patients. The physiotherapist in charge of the class will monitor and adjust the exercises accordingly.

We run pilates classes in both of our Kingston locations. More details of our locations are available here.

One to one sessions can be booked at either clinic. The Pilates instructors are experienced Chartered Physiotherapists and have received their Pilates training from Clinical Pilates instructor Craig Phillips. The Clinical Pilates programme is now recognised by the worldwide medical community as the gold standard for treating spinal pain.
